I started Vaping years ago. Back when "pen styles" ruled and "Mods" were garage made contraptions. The scene was always trying to find better and more efficient ways of delivering a "high quality" vape and also trying to find ways to keep from having to refill your cart every 10 puffs.
The first "Cart Mods" were crude attempts at slowly wicking the liquid to the atomizer. Some ideas included springs, different types of filler materials and one inventive modder even devised the "PTB" method (Pyramid Tea Bag for those that don't know). All of these steps forward were advancement. Slow........but still advancement forward.
Eventually, technology moved forward by way of Clearomizers and Tanks. Clearo's are a great (top or bottom) wicking atomizer that can be filled with liquid and vaped. One of the downsides is that wicks can be slow to absorb and wick fluid to the coil, causing that nasty BURNT taste we vapers hate so much. With some practice, though, Clearo's can be a great addition to your supplies and a quick way to keep multiple flavored juices while you are on the go.
Tanks, on the other hand, are a WONDERFUL move forward, in this "UN-dead" bloggers grey, lifeless eyes. Tanks provide the convenience of a Clearo without the poor wicking. Once primed the carto will stay moist with liquid and prevent that awful burnt taste and they wick liquid so much better than Clearo's. There IS the occasional flooding/leakage but the learning curve to curb this mishap isn't very steep. Once you learn your way..........you are on your way to a much happier, much more pleasing vaping experience.
I use a tank every day. I still use Clearo's every once in a while and I still have a few "drip atomizers" for flavor sampling and such, but for an all day/every day vaping venture..........I choose TANKS.
One that I recommend and personally use is this tank from Smok, and am pleased to say, I LOVE IT. It is a standard Carto Tank system in that it is made of a clear tube, 2 ordinary aluminum chromed caps, and uses a 510 threaded single, dual or triple punched Carto..........but Smok added a third threaded bottom cap for locking the tube/cartomizer in place, preventing the tank from sliding up and off the carto. WONDERFUL!!!
I highly recommend that users give a Catro Tank a try. I promise, once you learn what you're doing, you'll fall in love with them too.
I purchased my Smok 6ml DCT (Dual Coil Tank) at D&M Vapes. You can check their website (http://www.dandmvapes.com/) for prices and a great selection of vaping products, or in person at their B&M Store in Archdale, NC.
I hope you've enjoyed this brief look at and background of Cart Mods and the innovations in Cart technology.
The Vaping Dead hopes you are having a great time here and remember................
Happy Vaping!!!
You know, Jim, I've been too lazy to give 'em a try because I have a great set up with my EVOD's. Now that I am being enticed to venture out a bit I might just go ahead and try one of these. Need a VV/VW Mod first though.

I was a "die"hard dripper after first starting vaping back in 2009. After coming back to vaping this year, I knew nothing of the Carto Tanks until a "CrashTest" friend of mine said something to me about them. I immediately started researching and a another good friend gave me one to try. Best vape I had had in years, honestly.
DeleteI have this exact tank. Great review. As much as I live my filler less tanks, I always come back to this one. It always delivers a full satisfying vape. Another great review, Jimmy!
